ELK GROVE HIGH SCHOOL FFA

The Future Farmers of America was founded in November of 1928 in Kansas City, Missouri.  California was the 4^th state chartered into the National FFA organization and Elk Grove FFA was founded as the 58^th chapter in California in 1929.  FFA uses agricultural education to create real-world success.  Agriculture teachers become advisors to local FFA chapters, which students join.  More than 7,000 FFA chapters are currently in existence in the US; their programs are managed on a local, state, and national level.  Local chapter activities and FFA programs concentrate on three areas of our mission:  premier leadership, persona growth, and career success.

The Elk Grove FFA was founded in 1929 with twelve members.  In its early years Elk Grove FFA had a reputation of producing outstanding young farmers who returned to the family farm.  In the last thirty years the program’s emphasis has been on developing students’ leadership skills, community service involvement, personal growth and career success in whatever occupation they choose to pursue.  Within the previous 5 years over 90% of Ag Department graduates have continued onto college.

Within the previous thirty years, Elk Grove FFA has consistently been one of the top 5 chapters in the state of California!  This is measured by the academic success of the students as well as awards won by students and teachers in the department.

#1 in the state of California in total State FFA Degree recipients with 879!

#4 in the state of California in total of State proficiency Awards with 30!

#10 in the state of California in total of State Championship Teams with 38!

Elk Grove FFA holds the record for number of State Degrees in one year - in 2006-07 with 80!
