What's new With Elk Grove FFA?
The Spring is on Elk Grove FFA....and there are no signs of slowing down!
Elk Grove FFA did amazing at the Sacramento Section Public Speaking Contest on January 25th! Taylor Chord placed 5th in Impromptu and Molly Swanberg placed 5th in Extemporaneous. In Creed, Mary Swanberg placed 4th and Natalie Resler placed 2nd. In Job Interview, Kendall Cahill placed 1st, Jamie McCrory placed 2nd and Natalie Kellman placed 5th. Lastly in the prepared contest, Natalie Alaniz placed 4th, Madison Albiani placed 3rd and Maddie Stone placed 1st. Anyone who placed in the top four will be moving on to the preliminary finals held in Galt on February 16. We wish all of our continuing competitors good luck!
The school farm is in full swing considering the swine have arrived! 89 pigs have joined the Elk Grove FFA and are currently living at the school farm. In addition, four steers are currently calling the farm home along with a couple sheep and eight goats. This month will be spent accumulating the rest of the animals for the Sacramento County Fair.
Still to come in February, bake a batch of cookies to donate to the Elk Grove Senior Citizen Center for Valentine's Day and earn an activity point. Deliver them to your Ag teacher on the 14th by 8:00 a.m.
Join us for Donkey Basketball on February 22nd in the Cartwright gym. We will be playing against Pleasant Grove FFA. The top ten ticket seller will be our riding team! If you need a ticket see any ag teacher. Adults are $8.00, FFA members are $6.00 and children 12 and under are $5. Buy your tickets now prices go up at the door! Come join us for the show!
We will be celebrating National FFA Week during the week of Washington's birthday from the 20th-24th. The week will feature the donkey basketball game on the 22nd and there will be lunchtime activities for all in the quad during both lunches. FFA Week will also start the spring raffle. Raffle tickets will be available for sale from the 22nd of February through March 20th.
Also in February our many CDE teams will be practicing for the upcoming judging season that kicks off on March 3rd with the U.C. Davis Field Day! Want your Agriscience Project to be entered into the field day? See your Ag teacher ASAP for details!
