There are three main types of projects. They are listed below along
with a list of possible ideas:
Ownership or Entrepreneurship These are projects that you own
individually or in a partnership. They are mini-enterprises in
agriculture production or agriculture business. A key factor
is the financial investments.

Cattle Row crops rice, corn, soybeans
Sheep Fruits and vegetables orchards/gardens
Swine Bedding plants
Poultry Nursery crops
Horses Christmas trees
Small animals Floriculture ~ dried/fresh flower arrangements
Fish Soil farm - including worms for bait
Exotic birds Plant sales flowers/herbs/vegetables
· AgriBusiness
Lawn care Horseback riding lessons
Custom farm work Animal care and boarding services
Tapping and Pelt sales Landscaping design or services
Hunting/Fishing guide Small engine repair
Tree pruning service Custom woodworking/carpentry
Farm and garden supply Custom welding work
Custom tractor work Pet grooming
Paid Placement (Non-Ownership) Students work in an agriculture
setting for pay . The student only has to provide the
labor. The owner provides all the supplies and
equipment and any financing necessary.
· Major areas
Animals working at a cattle ranch, horse barns, this also
includes a pet store or other small animal facility
Plants - working at a nursery or with a farmer who has
orchards/crops
Ag Business working for a company in sales or in the office
Conservation working with a conservancy like the
Vic Fauzio Basin
Turf working for a sod or grass seed company like
Delta Blue Grass
Horticulture working at a nursery or other landscape with
plants store
Wildlife Management working for different organizations
that preserve and protect wildlife like the
forestry service
Ag Mechanics working as a mechanic like at Warrens
Ag Communications working in the media promoting
& publicizing issues
Unpaid Placement or Volunteer (Non-Ownership) Students
complete a project or participate for the
experience only.
Volunteer at a wildlife refuge or state park
· Conduct Research / Experimentation and Analysis
Conduct a research project and analyze information
to discover a new idea
Compare soil pH and the affects on nutrient uptake
Compare pesticides or fertilizers on the affect of
seed growth
Compare animal responses to different feed additives
Compare fish response to water qualities
· Investigate, analyze and develop a plan to address an
agriculture issue
Create a marketing plan for a local agriculture commodity
Research and write a series of newspaper articles that help
increase the publics awareness of agriculture issues
in your area
Develop a land use plan for a local farmer or rancher
Detail a landscape plan for a community facility in the area
